2010 Miss America Travels Green

The Miss America Organization "crowned" EarthEra as its official clean energy partner for the 2010 Miss America Pageant held on January 30th in Las Vegas. Through the partnership, EarthEra supplied renewable energy certificates to match the electricity consumption during the Miss America Pageant ceremonies including all attendee hotel rooms. The pageant was televised live on TLC and drew over 4.5 million viewers. As part of the partnership with the Miss America Organization, EarthEra will also calculate and offset the personal carbon footprint of the newly crowned Miss America, Caressa Cameron, during her promotional travels in 2010. The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance, helping young women all across the country to reach their dreams and goals.

"We are excited to partner with NextEra Energy Resources through their innovative EarthEra program," said Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization, prior to the event. "This partnership gives us an opportunity to help reduce the carbon footprint of our event and promote one of the most important and socially relevant causes that will face future generations. We are happy to play a part in protecting our planet and educating tomorrow's leaders."
