World's Largest Electronics Show Chooses EarthEra
More than 120,000 attendees, including 5,000 media, analysts and bloggers traveled to Las Vegas last month to attend the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) who owns and produces the event, partnered with EarthEra to help reduce the carbon footprint of the giant expo, which included balancing all venue space and the hotel rooms of every attendee with 100% wind power!
The show, which concluded January 10, featured innovative new technologies, from android products and apps to tablets, eReaders, netbooks and smartphones. Exhibitors represented the largest names in the consumer electronics industry, such as Sony, Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft, Sony-Ericsson, Sharp, HP and Panasonic. "Green" was a prominent theme throughout the show, with CES taking many on-site conservation measures as well as designating special floor space to an area called the Sustainable Planet Spotlight. More than 30 companies and their products were on display in the Sustainable Planet section (including EarthEra!), which featured advances in green building, alternative energy technologies and smart grid technologies. CES also partnered with EarthEra to provide a way for attendees to offset their air travel to Las Vegas using certified carbon offsets from EarthEra. EarthEra uses 100 percent of the revenue from these travel offset offers to build new renewable energy facilities.
