Environmentally Responsible Transportation Begins With Carey
As the worldwide leader in corporate chauffeured transportation, Carey holds the unique responsibility to drive conversations in both service and practice throughout our industry. As the discussion has turned to address climate change and the impact that ground transportation is having on the global ecosystem, we have taken action to help offset the impact of our operations.
Rather than hastily investing our resources on underwhelming, high-priced technology and equipment just to be the first to publish a bullet point on a brochure, we have concentrated our efforts on bringing about a range of individual activities to reduce our impact on the environment. We view our effort as a global priority, not a PR opportunity. And so we take the lead once more, and this is our plan.
Addition of Hybrid Vehicles to The Carey Fleet
Since 2007 Carey has been steadily adding Hybrid and FlexFuel vehicles to its vast fleet to meet the increasing demand by our clients. While the existing luxury vehicle options utilizing these technologies are limited, Carey has endeavored to make the few types that are on the market available in select cities, with plans to expand our offerings into more of markets throughout 2010.

Recognizing that just adding a few hybrids to our vehicle fleet wasn't enough, Carey International, Inc., launched a new subsidiary company that utilizes an entire fleet of mid-sized fuel-efficient vehicles, is 100% Carbon Balanced, and operates within its own network of select cities. Diligent Maintenance of Existing Fleet
Strict vehicle maintenance policies and frequent equipment inspections ensure the Carey Fleet is always in top operating order. The significance of this is simple: a well maintained vehicle emits less carbon dioxide. A simple step that when exercised throughout our entire network, has a tremendous impact.
Operational Responsibility
Carey is taking steps outside of its fleet activities to address environmental issues within our business offices as well. Carey endeavors to partner with "green" suppliers whenever possible, maintain our aggressive recycling and energy conservation policies, and encourage the electronic communication and distribution of office documents and letters.
Carey - NextEra Energy Resources Partnership & The EarthEra® Program
Carey has partnered with NextEra Energy Resources, North America's leading producer of energy from the wind and the sun, to help measure, reduce and offset the carbon dioxide emissions from our operations in select US cities. Through the innovative EarthEra® program, Carey purchases EarthEra® carbon offsets through the EarthEra® Renewable Energy Trust Program. 100% of Carey's purchase price is directed to the Trust and used to build more renewable energy facilities across the United States such as wind farms and solar sites.
