Interface Partners with EarthEra

Interface, Inc., an Atlanta-based manufacturer of modular and broadloom carpet, is partnering with EarthEra to help meet its aggressive renewable energy goals. As part of Interface's Mission Zero™ commitment, the company has set a goal to source 100 percent of its global energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.
Interface's systems approach to sustainability began in 1994 and includes a significant focus on energy – using new technologies and process improvements to maximize efficiency and using renewable energy to power facilities. Interface's renewable energy portfolio includes on-site solar PV arrays, landfill gas, green power purchases, and Renewable Energy Credit purchases. In 2009, 30 percent of Interface's total energy use was from renewable energy sources, with 89 percent of global electricity use coming from renewable sources.
"Interface is excited about the opportunity to partner with NextEra Energy through the EarthEra program," said Erin Meezan, Vice President of Sustainability, Interface, Inc.. "The EarthEra Renewable Energy Trust structure allows Interface to make a direct impact on the renewable energy market by ensuring that 100% of our purchase is funding new renewable energy facilities in the United States."
