Located in northern New York, St. Lawrence University is a diverse liberal arts learning community of inspiring faculty, serious students, and accomplished alumni, guided by tradition and focused on the future. A core university value, environmental sustainability is a way of life. At St. Lawrence, students can study environmental issues through 10 interdisciplinary majors, rent a bicycle from their library and attend classes in their LEED Gold-certified Johnson Hall of Science.
St. Lawrence University's participation in Carbon Balanced Campus, powered by EarthEra, makes them a direct contributor to the growth of renewable energy facilities in the US and helps them achieve their goal of generating power from renewable sources.
Commitment to the Environment
In March 2007, St. Lawrence committed to 'climate neutrality' by signing the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment.
With a goal to ultimately own and generate power from renewable sources, St. Lawrence is setting and meeting high environmental standards. In September of 2008, the school began purchasing renewable energy and offsetting 15% of their total electricity usage.
